And Forget My Name : A Speculative Biography of Bob Dylan
Published in Paperback by Ekstasis Editions (15 February, 1999)
Average review score:

this is THE dylan biographyThis book is by far the BEST Dylan biography out there! Its way better than Marsh's Glory Days (which - for some reason seems to be more about Springsteen than Dylan!). Just get it!

Andrew Nelles : A New Canadian, 1798
Published in Hardcover by Log Cabin Publishing (30 June, 1993)
Average review score:

What a genealogy ought to beRobert Mutrie is arguably Ontario's premiere genealogy researcher and author, and Andrew Nelles: A New Canadian may well be his finest work yet. Mutrie is the compiler of "Long Point Settlers" and editor of "Long Point Settlers Journal."
Thoroughly researched and well-documented, Andrew Nelles: A New Canadian, is well-written, well-illustrated and indexed. A hardcover coffee table book any descendant would find invaluable, it sets a standard for other such efforts to meet.
Of particular interest, are the many sidebar articles about the genealogy of spouses. No expense was spared in producing this book, which justifies its price. Would make an excellent gift.

Another Gravity
Published in Paperback by McClelland & Stewart (January, 2001)
Average review score:

Great Canadian TalentWinner of the Governor General's Award for poetry, and with just cause! This is the single best collection of poetry I have ever read. McKay, the avid bird watcher and lover of nature in general, clearly takes a special liking to flight and the moon. Throughout 'Another Gravity' his words seem to lift off the ground, and carries us soaring with his imagination to those very seemingly unattainable heights. A pleasure to read, and highly recommended.

The Ark in the Garden: Fables for Our Times
Published in Hardcover by Macfarlane Walter & Ross (October, 1998)
Average review score:

Why should kids have all the fun? This is a terrific series of fables written by famous contemporary Canadian authors. Like children's fables, they are mostly a vehicle for the authors to moralize... in this case about the state of the country. Quebec separatists, the Tory Ontario government, and the general trend towards government cutbacks all provide fodder for stories by the likes of Margaret Atwood, Rohinton Mistry, Timothy Findley, Neil Bissoondath, Jane Urquhart and Yves Beauchemin.
If you like satire, you'll love this.

The Ascension of Jesse Rapture (New Canadian Novelists)
Published in Paperback by Quarry Press (March, 1994)
Average review score:

An Illuminating ReadStill one of the best novels I've read that looks at religion in a fresh, humorous and enlightened way. Skewers the profane, inside and outside the church, with lots of insight into faith. Highly recommended.

Asphodel
Published in Paperback by McClelland & Stewart (September, 1997)
Average review score:

Canadian Redhill's work is subtle and mysteriousI wasn't as pleased with this book as I was with the brilliant LAKE NORA ARMS, which is plaintive and charming and subtle and quirky and bittersweet, the whispering of a Luna Moth . . . But Asphodel is a very strong book. Unfortunately, Asphodel's first section, a sequence about alzheimer's, although moving, never really takes off. There's no room for emotional upheavel, catharsis. But his poems in the middle section are why one comes to Redhill. The poems are slight, the language spare, and they echo back cloud-shadows of deeply realized--one wants to say spiritual--and soulful still lifes, landscapes about the love of Place, of Home. Many of them are truly haunted (read "Viewing Detroit"). The third section, which purports to use The Aeneid as its model, begins: "At first the thick night-black/ cauls the eye. I push through/ past the wintering space,/ the body's sleep, up/ and into waking. Straightening/ in bed, a fire blinking on, sleep's/ a leaf of death." I don't need to add anything after that.

Atwood-Coffee Catalogue of United States and Canadian Transportation Tokens
Published in Hardcover by American Vecturist Association (June, 1986)
Average review score:

The authority on US transportation tokens. This book covers US transportation tokens as completely as is humanely possible. Although tokens are not illustrated, descriptions are clearly written and well-organized, and a comprehesive index is provided, so finding a token is easy. However, a more recent edition (5th, 1996) is available for about the same price. AVA members receive periodic updates.

The Baby Blues: Winner of the Alaska State University Playwrights Award
Published in Paperback by Talonbooks Ltd (October, 1999)
Average review score:

"Author, author"Drew Hayden Taylor has surpassed himself in writing this delightful comedy in which a reader is so easily able to maintain the concept of the stageplay that he might find himself laughing aloud. I even wanted to applaud and call for the author as I closed the book cover.
The plot revolves around several characters who encounter each other during a powwow and the relationships that develop between them. A short play and one that will be read again and again.
